Pesquiera enters his senior season as perhaps the leading Buck Buchanan National Defensive Player-of-the-Year Award candidate after finishing as a finalist in 2000 and 2001 ... Has arguably made the biggest impact ever in just three seasons by a defensive player in Georgia Southern history.

 

 

After turning in an exceptional rookie year as a true freshman in 1999, followed with an even more outstanding campaigns as a sophomore and junior ... A dominant and promising athlete who possesses unlimited potential in every aspect, including strength, athleticism, skill, tenacity, work ethic and most of all, heart ... 1999: Played in all 15 games and made eight starts ... Opened Wofford contest at right defensive tackle and followed by starting seven games at left tackle, including the last six in place of an injured Robert LeBlanc ... In addition to matchup with Terriers, also made starts against The Citadel, Furman, Jacksonville State, Northern Arizona, Massachusetts, Illinois State and Youngstown State ... An All-Southern Conference second-team performer according to league head coaches ... Finished second on unit with 103 total tackles (56 solo, 47 assists) ... Also credited with 16 tackles for loss ( 78 yards) while topping squad in sacks with 9.5 ( 62 yards) ... Notched a team best seven "quarterback pressures" while adding two batted passes (Jacksonville State and Youngstown State) and two forced fumbles ... Was GSU's top tackler in four post season contests ... Recorded 34 stops (21 solo), including six behind line of scrimmage and 4.5 sacks in playoff action ... Logged pair of double digit tackle contests with a season-high 11 tackle effort vs. Massachusetts in a quarterfinal clash and a 10-tackle nationally-televised (ESPN) showing vs. Youngstown State in NCAA I AA National Championship Game ...
